Welcome to the College of Engineering (CoE) software portal. There are many providers of software at UCSB. We have included the primary engineering resources available for personal, instructional, and research use.
Microsoft Office for Staff/Faculty
All staff, faculty, researchers, and post doctoral candidates are eligible for Microsoft Office provided by the Engineering Computing Infrastructure (ECI). Click here to log in with your COE account and download.
Campus Provided Software
The Campus Office of Software Licensing provides individual and volume licenses for staff, faculty, and students. If you need Matlab or Mathematica for your personal computer please visit their site. This is managed outside of the COE and available to everyone on campus.

Mechanical Engineering Licensed Software
The Mechanical Engineering Department manages many of the programs used for instruction and research. You will need to contact them for licensing.

- CES EduPack
- Comsol
- National Instruments LabView

Instructional Lab Systems Software
ECI maintains 300 physical & virtual lab systems for instructional use only. For a listing of the main programs that are maintained on each operating system click below:
- Fedora Linux (Computer Science & cross listed classes only)
- CentOS Linux (Available to everyone with a COE account but primarily configured for ECE classes)
- Windows 10 (Available to Everyone with a COE account)
